At Storm Procurement, we have recently appointed Ickx Kwizera as our new Account Manager in our Mozambique office. In this article, we will introduce you to Ickx and learn a bit more about him.
Introducing Ickx Kwizera
Ickx has an extensive career background already. With such a diverse path, this has allowed him to have an understanding of many different industries, also learning that many are related. He started in the hospitality, events and tourism industry working in a hotel in Mozambique. He then went on to business development with a company that offered global concierge service, whilst also working with another travel agency under the same parent company, where he also did business development. This led Ickx to have a passion for travel which he likes to do when he can.
Ickx also has a passion for social entrepreneurship which has led him to set up his own business. This provides services in communication such as marketing and PR as well as tourism and event planning along with social entrepreneurship.
After a new challenge, Ickx then went on to join the Oil and Gas industry by working as an administration officer for Total Energies. As Total Energies only briefly stayed in Mozambique, he went on to be a business developer for SeaOwl which provide services for Marine and Energy industries.
Ickx chose to be a part of this industry, as he believes this will be an important step in Mozambique’s future in which he wants to play his part. He strongly believes he can contribute with ‘innovative ways in which the country and its people will benefit from.’ And with Ickx seeing his greatest strength as communication it is clear he will be a great asset to our Mozambique team.
When asked about the future of our industry Ickx believes that there are going to be a vast number of changes, especially with the environmental awareness that is evolving along with environmental policies. Renewable sources of energy will play a vital role and with Ickx having the constant need to learn to drive him to be successful, and with one of his strengths being solution orientated, he believes this can be a huge benefit to working in this ever-evolving industry,
He also believes that as Mozambique is still a new country to many industries, his drive can help progress Storm Procurement even more in the Mozambique market.
Even outside of work, Ickx still enjoys learning and developing his career as he is driven by social entrepreneurship. He believes in giving back to those who are not as fortunate so uses his spare time to contribute to social projects.
Ickx advice for anyone interested in this field of work is “be ready for heavy workloads and be passionate about what you do so it will be something you’re excited to do.” He believes being solution-driven is vital in this industry, as this is an industry that is constantly evolving. Although demanding, he believes it is highly rewarding.
